Organisational Structure

 

Overview

The organisational structure of EDYOUAFRICA is designed to combine visionary leadership with local empowerment, ensuring that the initiative remains both globally connected and regionally grounded.
It balances strategic direction, institutional credibility, and on-the-ground implementation through a dual-level framework — continental coordination and national execution.

At the heart of this structure lies the General Coordination Committee (GCC), supported by specialised subcommittees and an Advisory Board.
Across the continent, each participating country operates through a National Delegate (formal representative) and a National Coordinator (operational leader), working closely with local networks of educators and schools.

 

General Coordination Committee (GCC)

 

Purpose

The GCC serves as the central leadership and management body of EDYOUAFRICA.
It defines strategic priorities, ensures alignment with EdYOUFest Global, and supports national teams across the continent.

Main Responsibilities

• Define the overall vision, mission, and long-term development plan.

• Approve new National Delegates and Coordinators.

• Coordinate with EdYOUFest Global on policy, communication, and events.

• Oversee partnerships, resource allocation, and quality assurance.

• Support regional initiatives and mentor local teams.

• Produce annual reports and strategic updates.

 

Composition

The GCC is composed of:

• A Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson

• Heads of Subcommittees (Communication & Branding; Partnerships & Development)

• A Secretariat responsible for documentation and coordination.

The Committee meets quarterly online and once per year in person during an international EdYOUFest event.

 

Advisory Board

​

Purpose

The Advisory Board provides academic and strategic guidance to ensure that EDYOUAFRICA’s activities meet high professional and ethical standards.
It functions as an independent body offering expertise, evaluation, and external visibility.

 

Main Responsibilities

• Advise the GCC on policy, research, and innovation.

• Review and endorse key initiatives and partnerships.

• Ensure quality and inclusiveness across all projects.

• Contribute to EDYOUAFRICA publications and events.

 

Composition

The Advisory Board includes international experts, educators, researchers, and representatives from academic and institutional partners.

 

Subcommittees

A. Communication & Branding Subcommittee

Focus: Visibility, identity, and storytelling.
Responsibilities:

• Manage EDYOUAFRICA’s visual identity and media presence.

• Develop promotional materials and communication campaigns.

• Coordinate internal communications among national teams.

• Ensure consistent use of the EdYOUFest brand across Africa.

B. Partnerships & Development Subcommittee

Focus: Collaboration, funding, and institutional growth.
Responsibilities:

• Identify and establish partnerships with universities, NGOs, and public institutions.

• Explore funding and sponsorship opportunities.

• Facilitate joint projects and exchange programmes.

• Support national teams in developing local collaborations.

 

National Structure

Each participating country operates through a dual leadership model to ensure both representation and effectiveness:
a National Delegate and a National Coordinator.

A. National Delegate

Role: Institutional and diplomatic representative of EDYOUAFRICA at national level.
Profile: A respected education professional or academic with proven experience in leadership, advocacy, or teacher training.

Responsibilities:

• Represent EDYOUAFRICA in official and institutional contexts.

• Establish relationships with ministries, universities, and associations.

• Promote the initiative’s mission nationally.

• Endorse and supervise the activities of the National Coordinator.

• Report to the GCC on policy and institutional developments.

Appointment: Delegates are nominated by the GCC and approved following an evaluation process based on experience, vision, and commitment.

B. National Coordinator

 

Role: Operational leader responsible for implementing EDYOUAFRICA’s projects and activities.
Profile: A dynamic educator or project organiser with strong local networks and practical management skills.

 

Responsibilities:

• Organise workshops, training events, and webinars.

• Recruit and engage local educators and volunteers.

• Coordinate national communication and outreach.

• Manage reporting and feedback to the GCC.

• Support the National Delegate in partnership-building and visibility.

 

Appointment: Coordinators are proposed by the National Delegate and approved by the GCC.

 

Local Networks of Educators and Schools

At the foundation of the structure lies the community — teachers, trainers, and institutions connected through collaborative activities.
These networks give life to EDYOUAFRICA’s mission by translating ideas into action.

 

Functions:

• Participate in workshops, teacher training, and EdYOUFest events.

• Share local best practices and success stories.

• Engage in intercultural exchanges with other African countries.

• Contribute to research, publications, and pilot projects.

Local networks form the vibrant and evolving ecosystem that keeps EDYOUAFRICA rooted in the realities of classrooms and communities.

 

Reporting and Accountability

Each country submits an Annual Activity Report to the GCC, outlining:

• Implemented initiatives and participation data;

• Partnerships established;

• Challenges encountered and needs identified;

• Plans for the following year.

This process ensures transparency, learning, and continuous improvement across all levels.
