Why

WHY EDYOUAFRICA

Across Africa, education is deeply connected to community development, cultural heritage, and future opportunity. Teachers play a vital role in shaping the next generations of leaders, innovators, and citizens.

At the same time, many educators face significant challenges, including:

•           unequal access to professional development and teaching resources

•           limited opportunities for international collaboration and knowledge exchange

•           geographic distances that make professional networking difficult

•           rapidly evolving educational needs in diverse and often low-resource contexts

EDYOUAFRICA was created to help address these challenges by building a supportive continental community for teachers of English.

Through the global network of EdYOUFest Global, EDYOUAFRICA works to:

  • expand access to professional learning through accessible online events and shared resources

  • connect educators across regions and foster collaboration with teachers and experts worldwide

  • encourage the exchange of practical teaching ideas that can be adapted to diverse classrooms

  • recognise and amplify the voices of African educators in international professional dialogue

By supporting teachers and strengthening professional connections, EDYOUAFRICA helps educators grow in confidence, share their experience, and bring new possibilities to their classrooms and communities.

In this way, education becomes not only a profession, but also a powerful force for opportunity, cooperation, and sustainable development.

What

WHAT MAKES EDYOUAFRICA DIFFERENT

Accessible professional learning

Professional development should be within reach of every teacher.

EDYOUAFRICA offers open online learning opportunities, webinars, and shared resources that educators can access regardless of location or resources.

Peer learning and community

Teachers learn best from one another.

Our community encourages educators to share experiences, present their own practices, and exchange ideas with colleagues across Africa and beyond.

Practical teaching for real classrooms

Many teachers work in challenging conditions with limited resources.

EDYOUAFRICA focuses on adaptable teaching strategies, classroom activities, and real examples that work in diverse and low-resource environments.

Teacher confidence and independence

Professional learning should empower teachers to think and act independently.

Through discussion, reflection, and mentoring, educators gain the confidence to adapt ideas and apply them creatively in their own classrooms.

Global exchange of knowledge

Local experience becomes stronger when connected with global perspectives.

Through the international community of EdYOUFest Global, educators connect with international experts, global conversations, and wider professional networks.

OUR VISION

Our vision is for Africa to be a continent where every teacher of English has access to professional learning, shared knowledge, and supportive networks, regardless of location or resources.

Empowered educators strengthen their teaching  and help students develop the language and skills they need for education, work, and global communication.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to create accessible opportunities for teachers of English to learn, share experience, and connect with peers across Africa and beyond through the global community of EdYouFest Global.
