Dear guests, colleagues and friends,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Belgrade for this ELT event organized by EDYOU Fest and ELTA Serbia. We are honoured to host this international gathering, which brings together dedicated English language teaching professionals from across the region and beyond.

This one-day event is not only an opportunity for meaningful professional development, but also a space to exchange ideas, strengthen professional connections, and reflect on innovative pathways in language education. We hope the sessions, discussions, and informal conversations will inspire you and support your continued growth as educators.

Belgrade, with its rich history, vibrant culture and renowned hospitality, offers an ideal setting for learning and collaboration. And what better place to have the sessions than the very institution where English language learning has started for so many of us, the Faculty of Philology. We trust that your time here will be both professionally rewarding and personally enjoyable.

On behalf of the ELTA Serbia team, we wish you a productive, engaging, and memorable experience in Belgrade.

17.30 - 18.45  | City Centre Walking Tour

Stepping into the Old City Walking Tour in Belgrade feels like walking into a fabulous story rich in history and art.

At the crown of the city stands the Kalemegdan Fortress whose stone walls open onto the vast confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, and where the Statue of the Victor rises like a silent promise over the horizon, while the Monument of Gratitude to France quietly remembers alliances carved out of history’s storms. The fortress with its gorgeous park tells stories from the Ottoman Empire until the present days since Belgrade breathes as a city of layered souls—where East and West do not simply meet, but intertwine, argue, and dance in the street life and memory.

Walking down bustling Knez Mihailova Street you will enjoy the view of magnificent facades, shops and cafes that ends at Republic Square, a living stage where the city gathers itself between history and motion, framed by the proud silhouettes of the National Theatre and the contemplative halls of the National Museum of Serbia.

Romantic and nostalgic souls may wish to wander into the charming and quieter streets of Kosančićev venac, where old houses and cobblestones create a more intimate, almost nostalgic atmosphere. Every corner here carries the faint scent of forgotten stories, as if Belgrade is gently reminding you that memory is also a form of architecture.

And at the end of this unfolding path waits Skadarlija, a bohemian quarter, where lantern light, music, and the aroma of traditional Serbian dishes gather like an embrace, turning the street into a celebration of everything the city has been—and everything it still dares to become.
